Labor Day WangFest Time Trials Results!!

9/2/13 - WangFest Labor Day HPDE and Time Attack Event!

Were you there? Did you witness the madness? This was quite the event with multiple WangFest Track Records being shattered. Although our car count was on the low side, it still brought out some heavy hitters. Shout out to some of our regular WangFest competitors that were busy at NASA Nationals, with new found fatherhood, in the garage trying to fix their cars in time, or sitting in their cubicles at work.

Interesting footnotes

Austin Cabot's S2000 is in the 1:42's with nothing more than an intake and testpipe for horsepower modifications. His car is set up for NASA TTC rules.

Jack Stadola's K20 powered EG Civic saw 1:43's ON STREET TIRES. Tons of potential there.

Ryan Weddle's SR Powered 240 broke into the 1:43's ON STREET TIRES. Also tons of potential there.

Neil Bautista's 1 year anniversary of tracking was awarded with a win in Street RWD. CONGRATS!!

Brandon Gonzales did not have enough hands to hold all of the trophies that he took home.

Team Twerk that consisted of Austin Cabot and Mike Cohn hashtagged things in real life.

Our next event will be Memorial day 2014. Records will shatter again. Time will be attacked. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

Thanks to all of our participants and great sponsors who help make this event happen.

RULES REVISION!! - Street Class Interior, Unlimited Defined

WangFest TrackEvents Rules and Regulations

Introduction
WangFest is a grassroots Midwest Trackday organization. What started as just a small
gathering of friends renting out the local track has become a regular trackday hosted 3 times a year at Gingerman Raceway. Our format and atmosphere can only be described as “different” when compared to your average HPDE. At a WangFest Trackday you will find a fine mix of cars, a very loose but safe track environment, and quite possibly some of the best track time bang for your buck. Now we enter 2013 with a new mission in mind, hosting time trial events!

Time Trials

WangFest Time Trials is a new series for 2013. We are hosting 3 events this season at Gingerman Raceway that will incorporate open track time for experienced HPDE drivers ( No beginners and no instructors), practice sessions for Time Trial participants and light traffic segregated timed sessions for Time Trial participants that will be grouped accordingly by lap times. Timing and Scoring will be handled by WangFest TrackEvents and the Gingerman Raceway staff. Transponders and timing related equipment are also handled and rented out exclusively by WangFest TrackEvents. AMB units, Traqmates, AIM units or any other equipment not provided by WangFest TrackEvents will not be counted for valid laps. Timed laps must be recorded and scored through the equipment provided by WangFest TrackEvents only.

Open Track Time

WangFest will be providing about 40 to 50 open HPDE spots for those not looking to enter Time Trials competition. These participants will be divided into 2 run groups in 30 minute sessions. HPDE participants will not be on track at the same time as Time Trials participants. Timing is optional for participants, but will not be counted towards TIme Trials. HPDE participants have the option to move into the Time Trials groups to compete as long as there is room and the change is done before Time Trials timed sessions begin. A fee will apply.

Classes and Rules for Time Trials

Like many other Time Trials/Time Attack events, we have separated our groups by both drivetrain layout and vehicle modifications. Drivetrain layouts are FWD (Front Wheel Drive) , RWD (Rear Wheel Drive), and AWD ( All Wheel Drive). Each drivetrain layout will have a class for Street, Modified and Unlimited. Each class is defined in the ruleset. Time Trials participants may only enter their car in one class per event.
